Palm announced that they will be providing an upgrade for the Treo 750 for Windows Mobile 6. It's going to be available later this year and is supposedly free!

Epson Printer Drivers for Vista

Epson finally got around to releasing Vista printer drivers for my printer, an Epson All-In-One CX7800.

The printer and scanner worked okay with the Windows XP driver, however the printer status driver did not work correctly. Without that driver, the ink cartridge status was always greyed out, so the printer wouldn't warn me when ink cartridges were low.

Charter Internet

I upgraded my cable service from 3Mb to 5Mb yesterday. I ran the speakeasy speed test and am now getting 4411 kbps download/468 kbps upload. The increased upload from 256k to 512k is nice. With the 3-month promo, it's even less than I was paying for the 3Mb service. Awesome!

American Idol

I can't believe that Sanjaya did not get voted off. I was actually willing to give him a pass if they voted off Chris with the bad fro for what he did to that song. I wonder if Sanjaya ever feels bad because more deserving people are being voted off while he stays. You know, the longer he stays, the bigger the talent gap will be between him and the people with actual talent, like Melinda.

American Idol

Of course I have been watching "American Idol." America finally got rid of Antonella. She's pretty, but she couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle. Speaking of not being able to carry a tune, I can not believe that Sanjaya made it to the top 12. There is just no way he is a better singer than Jared or Sundance!

Windows Home Server

I was invited to the Windows Home Server beta program. I have been running WHS Beta 2 for about 3 weeks now. It's a great product and it really works. I have run into some minor bugs, but the product works and is feature complete.

I really like the back up feature. I admit that I do not back up regularly, but with this product I get an auto backup every night, and can restore a file fairly easily.

I also like the remote access feature. However, I think they need to add remote access capability to home versions of Windows. I think most users are going to have XP Home or Vista Home Premium in their homes and the remote access feature does not work on those systems because they do not support remote desktop connections. This would be a great value add for WHS.

I think they made storage management really easy. I do not want to fool with RAID setup. With WHS, you can add a drive as you need and if you have duplication enabled for your shares (which is enabled by default), you can guarantee that your files are on two physical drives in your server. If a drive goes down, you don't lose any data. You can also use external drives as storage.

Heroes!

OK, Heroes is the best show on TV. Simply amazing. I can not wait until it starts back up in April. I've felt that two of my other favorite shows, Lost and Battlestar Galactica, have not been as good this season. Heroes keeps getting better and better each episode.
