- Sonya Gomez first appeared as an ensign in the Next Generation second season episodes "Q Who" and "Samaritan Snare", which introduced the Pakled species. Lycia Naff reprises her role, providing the voice of Captain Gomez.
- Captain Gomez is the commanding officer of the Obena-class U.S.S. Archimedes NCC-83002. The Obena-class starship design is derived from the Excelsior-class.
