Notes
  • When Troi helps Jack open the red door in his mind, she sees a Borg cube and hears them speak "We are Borg".
  • It is revealed Picard's diagnosis of irumodic syndrome was incorrect. It was a biological alteration by the Borg, which is how he was still able to hear them in Star Trek: First Contact. The changelings embedded the DNA code into the fleet transporter systems, which infected anyone who used the transporter allowing them to be assimilated remotely when the Borg sent a fleet-wide signal. The DNA modification only worked in indviduals whose front cortex was still developing, around the age of 25 in humans.
  • Jack escapes custody and steals a shuttle. When he finds the Borg, he beams aboard the cube and the Borg inject a cable into his spine. This allows the Borg to transmit the activation signal.
  • Vōx is Latin for voice, and is the new name the Borg Queen gives Jack. (It would typically be spelled with a macron over the ō, but the title card spells it with a tilde.)
  • The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F (commanded by Admiral Shelby) is launched on Frontier Day, the 250th anniversary of the launch of the Enterprise NX-01.
  • In need of a ship that is not linked to the rest of the fleet, La Forge takes the crew to the Fleet Museum, where he reveals the restored Galaxy-class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1071-D. It was rebuilt with what was left of the saucer section retrieved from Veridian III and the engines from the U.S.S. Syracuse.
  • After revealing the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Geordi muses they were unable to use the U.S.S. Enterprise-E, and everyone looks to Worf, who insists that it was not his fault. In the tie-in novel The Last Best Hope by Una McCormack, Worf has been promoted to captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise-E, though this is not confirmed as canon in the series. When they board the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Worf notes that he prefers the weapons systems on the U.S.S. Enterprise-E.
  • Captain Shaw is killed by the newly assimilated Borg on the U.S.S. Titan, and Seven and Raffi are left behind as they try to help him.
  • Elizabeth Dennehy reprises her role as Shelby, first seen in "The Best Of Both Worlds". Her first name is confirmed as Elizabeth here.
  • Alice Krige returns as the voice of the Borg Queen, having previously played the physical role in Star Trek: First Contact and the Voyager finale, "Endgame".
