Notes
  • The title links this episode to the classic Trek episode "Amok Time". Spock has a dream where his human self fights with his Vulcan self.
  • Spock and T'Pring perform a ritual similar to a mind-meld so they can better understand each other, but it switches their bodies Freaky Friday style and they can't switch back. T'Pring (in Spock's body) has to negotiate with the R'ongovians while Spock has to apprehend Vulcan criminal K'Tyll.
  • The Federation is negotiating with the R'ongovians to allow passage through their space. The R'ongovian Protectorate is located between the Romulan and Klingon Empires, giving Starfleet access to the Beta Quadrant.
  • Number One and La'an discover Ensigns Christina and Zier about to leave the ship via EVA to "sign the scorch", which is etching their name in the oldest hull plate on the ship. It is one of the squares on the lower deckers "Enterprise Bingo". Their punishment is to clean the transporter pads for Chief Kyle, which they object to because he is "so mean".
  • Bruce Horak (Hemmer) does not appear in this episode (and he is not credited in the main titles).
